Varanasi has been receptive to different styles of architecture through the ages. In this city, we find architectural styles ranging from the Gupta period to the modern era. In this walk, we will explore one of the earliest Gothic Revival structures of India: the main building of the Sampurnand Sanskrit University of Varanasi. It was built in 1852 and designed by Major Markham Kittoe. We will discuss the beauty of the building and talk about Gothic architecture. We will conclude the walk at the Prahladpur Inscribed Pillar.
