Sanganer is a town situated in Jaipur district, Rajasthan, 15 km south of state capital Jaipur. It is famous for textile printing, handmade paper industry, and Jain temples. Sanganer prints are one of its own kinds, for the reason that patterns in bright colours are always printed on white backgrounds. Sanganeri Hand block printing received the geographical indication (GI) tag in 2010.
Sanganer, just outside of Jaipur is where blocks are carved from teak and rosewood and the fabric is still printed by hand as its been done since the 11th century. Miles of fabric hanging or laid across roofs to dry, cows sleeping in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic, and open storefronts with men sitting crossed legged carving intricate designs.
Sahapedia, in collaboration with Royal Rajasthan Foundation, hosted Heritage Walk Training Programme in Jaipur for women from economically weaker sections of society to become walk/experience leaders in Feb-Mar 2021. In its first edition in Jaipur, we have collaborated with Business and Community Foundation, Centre for Equity Studies, and Virasat Experience to train women from economically weaker sections of society to become walk/experience leaders.
Join us for this unique walk led by Ashwini Soyal, our trainee from the program and encourage her in her efforts.
