Raunaq -e-Chowk - An Evening Food Tour at Lucknow’s Chowk

About the walk

'Kal bhi jiske tazkire the,
Anjuman dar anjuman - daastaan dar daastaan,
Shaam-e-Awadh hai aaj bhi’

While Lucknow gave us Tehzeeb, beautiful architecture and Chikan embroidery, it also gave us the gift of the palate. Living plushly and savouring delightful cuisine was once a full-time occupation in the erstwhile province of Awadh. Lucknow, which is considered as one of the gastronomical capitals of India, has a range of amazing food items to offer. It is interesting to witness Nawabi heritage in the form of its exquisite food. Awadhi cuisine is a refinement of Mughlai culinary traditions and is characterised by complex techniques and a depth of taste. From kababs that melt in your mouth to the famous biryani, from the trademark Lucknow chaat to refreshing thandai, there is a lot that Old Lucknow’s Chowk has to offer. The Chowk is perhaps the first name that comes to mind when it comes to Lucknow's street food. The vibe of this old market area, located in the centre of the city, takes us back in time and is completely unmatched. The inter-connected narrow streets, showcasing old architectural structures and handicraft workshops of chikankari, are sights to witness and understand the dynamics of the market area.

This guided tour is free.
