Purani Basti in Raipur, Chhattisgarh is considered to be one of the oldest known civilisations of modern India. Meaning "old colony" in Hindi, it was one of the richest centres of culture in central India. It houses many museums and ancient buildings that are representative of the Stone Age.
Turi Hatri is known to be the first commercial fruit/vegetable market of the area. Also known as the parent of the barter system of exchange, it also houses the world's first underground museum.
