The Mughal architecture style in the Indian subcontinent developed over a period of 300 years. During this period, each architectural project is characterised by its strength made elegant and graceful by the rich and decorative work, which reflects many syncretic elements from the diverse Indian culture. Prayagraj’s Mughal architecture begins with the Allahabad Fort built by Akbar in 1583. Akbar was struck by the natural setting and serenity of Prayag and commissioned the old settlements on either side of the Ganges and their adjoining villages to erect a new city.
In this virtual tour, we will take you on a virtual journey to some Mughal architectural sites in the city and share anecdotes about how it adds glitters and glimmers to the visual and cultural landscape of the city of confluence.
