The Paigah tombs of Hyderabad are the final resting places of members of the Paigah family, noblemen who held powerful positions under the Nizams. Just 4 km away from the Charminar, these hidden gems of Hyderabad are examples of extraordinary craftsmanship and architecture. The magnificent tombs are decorated in Spanish stucco work and inlaid mosaic work, and represent Mughal, Greek, Persian, Asaf Jahi, Rajasthani and Deccani styles of architecture.
The tomb of Asman Jah and Begum Khurshid Jah are made of marble and were once adorned with precious and semi-precious stones which would change colours with the change of seasons. Now the stones are no longer there, but the tombs offer a fascinating sight when the shadows fall on their rich carvings.
