Jahanpanah and its Thousand Pillared Palace

About the walk

Delhi has been a major attraction to every foreign invader as the centre of northern India. As a result, it encapsulates a rich cultural heritage, especially seen in the splendid monuments it houses. One among these structures is the Bijay Mandal Fort. Built in the 14th century, the fort was built by Alauddin Khilji with several additions made by the eccentric ruler, Muhammad Bin Tughlaq. This fort is a part of the city of Jahapanah, one of the 4 cities of the Delhi Sultanate. The fort is almost dilapidated now, but is of great significance with regard to the history of the Delhi Sultanate. The fort is alluring to people in search of solace, away from the tiring life of the city. It also offers a spectacular view of the city. This structure is a feast to the eyes of every history enthusiast and also for photographers due to its appealing ambience.

The guided tour is free.
