A Walk through the Hazira Maqbara – The Celebrated Mausoleum

About the walk

The Hazira Maqbara, located in Danteshwar, Vadodara, is one of the city's lesser-known mausoleums. It contains the grave of Qutubuddin Muhammad Khan, the tutor of Akbar’s son and successor, Salim. With five arches on each side, the mausoleum resembles Humayun's mausoleum in Delhi. The interiors walls of Hazira have Quranic texts inscribed on them. The mausoleum is also surrounded by a beautiful garden.

This site is an amalgamation of history, architecture and nature. At the end of the walk, participants can stop and sketch this picturesque monument. The site also provides several interesting photo opportunities.

If you're a history/architecture buff or are interested in sketching and photography, do join this walk to the Hazira Maqbara.

This guided tour is free.
