A Nature Trail through the Mangroves of Panjim

About the walk

The banks of Goa’s five major rivers—Chapora, Mandovi, Zuari, Sal and Talpona—are covered in mangrove plants. Out of the 16 mangrove species found in Goa, many fall under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act (1972) and are a protected category. These plants prevent soil erosion, stabilise coastlines and protect the land from tidal surges and cyclonic storms. Mangroves are also hubs of biodiversity and house a variety of birds, insects, crustaceans, fish, etc.

On this tour, we will explore the flora and fauna of Goa and learn about need to protect mangroves.

This guided tour is free.
