The Sikhs are a unique community in India and have some of the most beautiful places of worship. Their religion is one of the youngest in the country, but also one of the most inspiring, given its focus on community service and massive free kitchens or langars.
In this walk, we will go to the 18th-century Sisganj Gurudwara—where the ninth Sikh guru, Tegh Bahadur, was executed in 1675 for resisting conversion to Islam. Then we will head towards the Sunehri Masjid, from where Nader Shah ordered a bloody massacre on the people of Delhi around 280 years ago.
This walk will help participants understand the Sikh religion and style of architecture as well as the gurudwara’s connection to the emperor Aurangzeb.
This guided tour is free.
