The history of Pune and the Shaniwar Wada are two inseparable entities. The archetypal Wada structure has witnessed the glorious period of the Peshwas. Today, the visual of the structure might appear mundane, but it has lots of stories to tell. Let's walk together through the premises of the Wada and also explore its vicinity to understand how the region has undergone changes. Join us on a trail through the history of old Pune, a journey of the famine-stricken village of Punvadi to a rich town and the quintessential architecture that bespoke the histories of the yesteryears.

Swapna Joshi- She is a Ph.D. fellow in the Humanities and Social Sciences department at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune. She has a Masters in A.I.H.C & Archaeology from Deccan College, Pune, and a PG Diploma in Built Heritage Studies and Conservation run by Sir J.J. College, CSMVS Museum and MMRHCS. She has worked on independent research projects with Vaastu Vidhaan Projects, CSMVS museum, Willingdon Sports Club in Mumbai and was a Sahapedia Unesco Designate…
