Remembering the Past - A Stroll to the All Souls Church

About the walk

This event is ticketed.

British rule in India, which lasted for over 200 years, had a deep-rooted impact on the nation. The erstwhile city of Cawnpore, or Kanpur as we know it today, reflects this influence throughout. An example of this is the All Souls Cathedral (also called Kanpur Memorial Church) which was constructed in 1875. It was built to memorialise the British men, women and children who lost their lives during the Revolt of 1857, an incident that is remembered in Indian history as the ‘First War of Independence’.

Join us for this walk to appreciate the magnificence of the Lombardic-Gothic style church, and to learn more about Kanpur of the colonial times.
