A Photo and Museum Walk to Abhinav Bharat Mandir

About the walk

Abhinav Bharat Society (Young India Society) was a secret society founded by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar in 1904. Initially founded at Nasik as Mitra Mela when Vinayak Savarkar was still a student zFergusson College at Pune, the society grew to include several hundred revolutionaries and political activists with branches in various parts of India, extending to London after Savarkar went to study law. It carried out a few assassinations of British officials, after which the Savarkar brothers were convicted and imprisoned. The society was formally disbanded in 1952.

The photo walk will focus on different lanes and wadas of Nashik. At Abhinav Bharat Mandir we will visit a small but historical Photo Gallery which includes original photographs of various freedom fighters including Savarkar. Here we will have a small dialogue to understand more about the Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and the role he played in the freedom struggle of India.

Come and join us for this informative history photo walk.

This guided tour is free.
