Goa has five major rivers which have mangroves on their banks in the tide-affected areas — Chapora, Mandovi, Zuari, Sal and Talpona. There are 16 mangrove species found in Goa; some of these are considered most endangered and preserved with utmost care. The mangroves help in preventing soil erosion and stabilising coasts, and also help in protecting the land from tidal surges and cyclonic storms.
On this tour, we will explore some of the well-preserved mangroves, learn about their protection, and also see the butterflies and birds along the river.
