30 Highlights of the National Museum

About the walk

The National Museum houses one of the most respected collections of art and antiquities from South Asia. The galleries of this post-independence building take visitors through a gamut of experiences as far back as five thousand years ago, weaving a complex tapestry of the Indian civilisational and cultural identity.

The tour takes one through several highlights of India’s history, through a close look at artefacts from different time periods and regions. We will go through 7 galleries that encapsulate the spirit of ancient India’s syncretism and milestone changes in the social and religious context from ancient to medieval times. The sequel to this walk will cover artefacts that take participants through the history of India from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

This walk will focus on the secularism in Indian art that explains India’s history.

This guided tour is free.
