Of Myths and Flavour - A Trail through the Lanes of Shivala Bazaar

About the walk

Known as the ‘Manchester of East’, Kanpur was an important industrial hub during the colonial period. The city also served as an epicentre of the 1857 War of Independence. Among the many marketplaces in Kanpur, Shivala Bazaar is a popular place for wedding shopping. The bazaar is also home to a few ancient temples (like the Shiva Temple and Dashanan Temple) that serve as beautiful specimens of Hindu temple architecture—both Nagara and Dravidian. The bazaar also offers stalls that serve mouthwatering dosas, idlis, uttapams and pani puri.

Join us on this walk where we will learn about the architectural style of Hindu temples and enjoy the delicacies of Shivala Bazaar.
