Lucknow is famous for its nawabs and kebabs. Earlier known as Awadh or Oudh, Lucknow played an important role in multiple wars against the British. The various wonders of Lucknow—from Bara Imambara to Shahi Baoli—are all vivid examples of Awadhi architecture and portray the history of the nawabs of Oudh. One such monument is the magnificent Rumi Darwaza, built under the patronage of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1784. To this day it remains one of the finest examples of Awadhi architecture.
Join us on this walk where we will learn about the various elements of Awadhi architecture. We will discuss the great nawabs of Lucknow and how they contributed to the Indian freedom struggle.
