Grandeur of Indore’s Lalbaug Palace

About the walk

Spend your Sunday by exploring one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Indore. Find yourself amidst the grand entrance of the palace with over 28 acres of a red rose velvet carpet for your welcome. This palace was built by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar between 1886 and 1921, highly influenced by a westernised outlook and the aesthetic sensibilities of the later Holkar dynasty.

As we go inside, we will see the daunting gates of the palace, unique to Asia. Embossed on them, you will see the Holkar state emblem which reads “He who tries will succeed”. The main attractions are the accurately proportioned and furnished rooms, with beautiful carvings on the walls and the ceilings.

Join us as we walk through this majestic palace inhabited by the Holkars till 1978.

This guided tour is free.
