Exploring the Colonial history of Sujan Singh Park

About the walk

This event is ticketed.

Delhi is an amalgamation of different cultures from across India. From being the capital of the Mughal Empire to the Capital city of the Republic of India, Delhi has has been seen it all. This walk will take you to areas of Delhi where glimpses of this diversity, and medieval and early modern immigration can be perceived. The walk will cover Sujan Singh Park, The Ambassador Hotel, Khan Market and the Parsi Cemetery. Sujan Singh Park is one of the first residential apartments of Delhi, where the stories of the residents are as interesting as it’s architecture. Khan Market, one of the high-end markets in Delhi, was previously a refugee colony. Here, memories of the Partition can still be experienced in the stories of the few families who still reside in the middle of the busy market. The walk through the Parsi Cemetery provides a chilling experience: surrounded by a thick canopy of trees, bushes and flowering plants, the gloomy atmosphere is uncharacteristically beautiful.

Keen to explore Delhi’s hidden, lesser-known sites and landmarks which are of tremendous historical and cultural significance? Come, join us for this walk.
