Discover the Legacy of Dhubri Town

About the walk

Dhubri District, which constitutes the western part of the Brahmaputra Valley, had a glorious past as it was an important administrative centre under British rule. It was also a place where different ethnic groups mingled, giving it a unique cultural heritage and historical background. Language, art and religion flourished in the area because of the processes of migration and assimilation of various races, castes, and creeds. The magnificent British bungalows, imposing relics and religious sites not only speak volumes about art, architecture and culture in the past but also give a historical account of social and political developments in the town.

In this walk we shall visit the historical buildings of colonial-era present in Dhubri town such as Victoria Park(1905), Brahmo Mandir (1875), Armenian Church(circa 1765), Gurudwara (16th Century), DC Bungalow (1879), Meteorological Tower (circa 1765), NetaiDhubuniGhat, Panch Pir Dargah(1662), District Museum Dhubri(1988),Post Office Building (1879), Circuit House (1879), Treasury Office building (1765), Tennis Court (1879), S.P. Bungalow (1879) Municipality Building (1883), Daak Bungalow (1879) and DFO Bungalow (1879), and marvel at the astonishing architecture and history.
