Empty and peaceful, the forgotten Chini ka Rauza tomb is the perfect antidote to the crowds and chaos of the nearby renowned Agra monuments. Though somewhat timeworn and unkempt, this Persian-style funerary monument is nevertheless charming in its own way.
Built in the 1630s, this Islamic structure houses the remains of the scholar and poet Shukrullah Shirazi Afzal Khan, ‘Allami’, who served as the chief minister of Emperor Shah Jahan. It stands out from the other tombs in the area due to its Persian architectural nuances, chosen to reflect Khan’s own origins.
