The walled corridors of old Vadodara have weaved a sacred thread of cultural amalgamation that stands as a testimony to the vibrant architecture of the old city. This walk is an attempt to read and study the cultural patterns that evolved through sketching and drawing various architectural elements that are reminiscent of the old pol houses. The narrow lanes of the pol settlement will take us through time, and we will explore how regional architecture perforates through the changing cityscape. The old town has witnessed changes as it passed through the hands of various rulers, and the sketch tour will aim at catching glimpses of these periods. Drawings will be the highlights of students' observations of the local streets and pol settlement.
Through this custom walk, we aim to observe traditional architectural forms as we celebrate the theme of this year's World Heritage Day: Heritage for Generations, and seek to sensitise students on the heritage and cultural diversity of the inner city of Vadodara.
This is a custom walk for the students of Parul Institute. The walk is not open to others.
