Ushaprabha Page has a M.A. Diploma in Journalism and has completed a Certificate course from Ecological Society, in Natural Resource Management for Sustainable Development. She worked in All India Radio for 37 years and retired as a Station Director. She contributed in the production and policy of programmes, nurtured the rich heritage of music, art, culture, history and the social arena of Maharashtra through broadcast. She is an avid trekker and one of the founder members of “Giripremi”, an eminent mountaineering club in Pune. As a nature lover, she contributes towards nature conservation by having formed a group for river conservation, and initiated a mission to make rivers in Pune - Mula and Mutha - pollution free and to rejuvenate their flow. She has extensively studied nature, particularly the plant kingdom and has travelled a lot for the same. (She undertook the Narmada Parikrama on foot for 3 months to study nature and the rich culture of the Parikrama on the banks of the river Narmada). She has also trekked extensively in the Himalayas as well as in the Sahyadri’s western ghats (a hot-spot of biodiversity). A Tree Walk in Empress Garden is another step in this direction.
