A Sneak-Peek into Shiva’s Abode - Ambarnath Shiva Temple

About the walk

Ambreshwar or Ambarnath Shiva temple is an exquisite Hemadpanti style temple that was built in the 11th century AD. Constructed on the banks of the Waldhuni river, the temple is believed to have been built by the Pandava brothers in just one night.

The partially built Shikhara over the sanctum opens up to the heavens as if deliberately left incomplete in honour of the Lord of the Skies, Ambarnath. This extensively decorated Shiva temple is a feast for the eyes. Heavily embedded with Shaivite sculptures, the temple abounds in Hindu mythological references.

Come, join us as we walk through the Kingdom of Lord Shiva. Let’s explore the finest example of the unique architectural style of Maharashtra.

This guided tour is free.
