A Walk through the Bustling Bazaar of Ajmer

About the walk

Naya Bazaar, one of the oldest parts of Ajmer, hosts a number of famous sweet shops where one can enjoy traditional sweets and dishes like Sohan Halwa (a Mughal sweet), as well as several 'kadi kachori' shops. It is the main shopping and trading hub of the city, visited by people from nearby towns and villages.

During the time of the Mughal emperor Akbar, Naya Bazaar was part of the walled city, but today only a few gates and Jain temples remain. It is said that Akbar used to come to Ajmer on foot from Agra to visit the Dargah of Khwaja Mohuniduin Chisti.

This guided tour is free.
