Vishrambaug to Tulshibaug - Heritage Structures of Pune’s Commercial District

About the walk

Did you know that a stream once flowed at the site of today’s Bajirao Road? Did you know there exists a gothic styled building in the very heart of Pune? Did you know that Sadashiv Peth was once considered so far away from the city that seven years’ worth of tax breaks were used to incentivise people to move here? Did you know there once were Charbagh gardens in what is today the heart of Pune?

Join us on this walk to trace the history of Pune and explore the monuments that bear witness to the tremendous change the city has been through. Let’s travel back in time and learn what 18th-century Pune was like. Let’s learn about the history and journey of the Vishrambaug Wada, the only Wada built by the Peshwas which survives today; Mandai, a legacy of the British; and two temples from the Peshwai: Tulshibaug and Belbaug, built by the Peshwai’s most eminent sardars.

This guided tour is free.
