Traversing Through the Streets of Bharuch

About the walk

This trail will take you through the marvellous history of a town that developed through the ages, from Bhrigukachcha to Bharuch. It will reveal to you its glorious past and heritage, which has made it the oldest city of India after Kasi (Varanasi). Also regarded as the oldest port of India, Bharuch developed into a prominent port town as mentioned in various Indian manuscripts and in the writings of foreign travellers who have described the city by various names. Many races and dynasties have invaded and settled in Bharuch, leaving their footprints on the history of the city, ranging from the Solanki dynasty (10th century AD), to the British Raj and the Mughal dynasty, whose architectural monuments still stand tall today.

This guided tour is free.
