Moti Bazaar in Haridwar gets its name from the many shops selling beads and malas of many kinds. The front shops sell objects and statuettes made of quartz, brass, etc. In the bylanes are large shops and workshops selling a variety of stone figures catering to the many temples and ashrams. These sculptures largely depict deities and also animals like elephants, snakes, horses and personalities like Ambedkar, Nehru, Malviya, etc. These are made of a variety of stones—marble, granite and sandstone.
Running almost parallel to Ganga, the narrow bylanes teem with tourists and pilgrims. The walk will cover the vicinity of Har-ki-Pauri. The area used to be a tiny sliver of land abutting Ganga. Some old walls like the ones of the Tehri House still stand.
