Kasera Oli is a lane near Nai Sadak in Gwalior which is famous for the artisans who reside here and make brass, aluminum and iron utensils. The lane derives its name from the term ‘Kasera’, one of the oldest and most common surnames used by these artisans. The history of the settlement goes back two hundred years, when the Scindia dynasty invited utensil makers to settle in the area, though today most of the utensils are exported all over the country. The lane is also rich in architecture as it houses some of the oldest temples of the erstwhile Princely State—Chaturbhuj Nath temple, Goverdhan Nath temple and Santoshi Mata temple, to name a few.
