Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was a Sufi saint of the Chishti order and one of the most famous proponents of Sufism in the Indian subcontinent. The essence of roses and the melodious qawwalis at his magnificent dargah/shrine instil peace in the hearts of those who visit it.
In this walk, we will experience the sights and sounds of the Nizamuddin neighbourhood, including the main shrine complex, Urs Mahal, the white-marbled Chausanth Khamba, the little-known tomb of Atgah Khan, the tombs of Amir Khusro and Jahanara Begum, and a 14th-century baoli (step-well). We shall also experience the festivities of Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and join devotees in the 'Iftari' feast—the evening meal after a full day's fast.
